Bond finds some solace James Bond's twenty-second adventure has finally got a title and it is 'Quantum of Solace'. While most fans are saying… "What?" and complaining that it doesn't quite have the same punch as 'Goldfinger', 'From Russia with Love', 'A View to a Kill' or 'Die Another Day' but it comes from an Ian Fleming short story and relates to Bond's feeling over the betrayal and death of Vesper in 'Casino Royale'.
The plot picks up an hour after the end of the previous film, with Bond and M interrogating Mr White who reveals he is part of a huge criminal organisation which is bigger than MI6 ever imagined. 007 is then sent to investigate which takes him all over the world from Haiti to Panama and Chile and back to Europe to Italy and Austria following new suspect, businessman Dominic Green who could be a big player in the organisation.
With Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Jeffery Wright and Gaincarlo Giannini returning as Bond, M, Felix Leiter and Mathis and Mathieu Amalric as Dominic Greene and Gemma Arterton (St Trinians) and Olga Kurylenko (Hitman) as the new Bond Girls Agent Fields and Camille, the 22nd Bond adventure opens on November 7th.
Here is the official synopsis...
"'Quantum of Solace' continues the high octane adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in 'Casino Royale'. Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. Pursuing his determination to uncover the truth, Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate Mr White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation which blackmailed Vesper is far more complex and dangerous than anyone had imagined.
Forensic intelligence links an MI6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti where a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond straight to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless business man and major force within the mysterious organisation.
On a mission that leads him to Austria, Italy and South America, Bond discovers that Greene, conspiring to take total control of one of the world's most important natural resources, is forging a deal with the exiled General Medrano (Joaquin Cosio). Using his associates in the organisation, and manipulating his powerful contacts within the CIA and the British government, Greene promises to overthrow the existing regime in a Latin American country, giving the General control of the country in exchange for a seemingly barren piece of land.
In a minefield of treachery, murder and deceit, Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth. As he gets closer to finding the man responsible for the betrayal of Vesper, 007 must keep one step ahead of the CIA, the terrorists and even M, to unravel Greene's sinister plan and stop his organisation."
German director Marc Forster has been chosen to helm the twenty-second and still untitled James Bond adventure. The man who directed the critically acclaimed 'Monster's Ball', 'Finding Neverland' and 'Stranger than Fiction', might seem a strange choice for Bond but with 'Casino Royale' reinventing 007, drawing more on character development than the previous Brosnan era of flashy, big stunts this might just be the ideal choice. Forster will now work with Oscar winning screenwriter Paul Haggis to develop the story by Neil Purvis and Robert Wade, that will continue from were the last movie finished off. Production starts in December 2007 for a 7th November 2008 release.

Eon Productions and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment are thrilled to announce that Casino Royale, the biggest Bond ever with a UK theatrical gross of over £50 million, will be available to buy on DVD, UMDTM Video and Blu-ray and to rent on DVD from 19th March 2007.
Casino Royale, the 21st James Bond adventure in the most successful franchise in film history, stars DANIEL CRAIG (Munich, Layer Cake) in his debut as 007, and is based on Ian Fleming’s first novel to feature the ultimate secret agent, which was published in 1953.
Casino Royale traces the early career of James Bond. His first “007” mission leads him to Le Chiffre (MADS MIKKELSEN), banker to the world’s terrorists. In order to stop him, and bring down the terrorist network, Bond must beat Le Chiffre in a high-stakes poker game at Casino Royale. Bond is initially annoyed when a beautiful Treasury official, Vesper Lynd (EVA GREEN), is assigned to deliver his stake for the game and watch over the government's money. But, as Bond and Vesper survive a series of lethal attacks by Le Chiffre and his henchmen, a mutual attraction develops leading them both into further danger and events that will shape Bond’s life forever.
Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions presents Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007 in Casino Royale. As filming starts on the 21st James Bond begins in the Czech Republic and the Caribbean, Coming Soon.net has posted an interview with star Daniel Craig and producer Barbara Broccoli and some new shots from 'Casino Royale'. Here is a snippet...
How did
you prepare yourself mentally and physically to play this role?
Craig: Mentally, I kind of got my head around it before I got the job
and decided that this is one of those challenges in life that when they
come along, you really just have to face [them] head-on. Accepting the
fact that there's a huge amount of history and baggage that comes along
with it, saying, "Okay, that's all there and it's all fantastic," so
all I had to do is try and put my self into the situation and bring
myself to it. That's all I can do. Physically, I've just been in the
          gym four months now… constantly.

EON Production has finally announced the main cast members that will be joining the production. Firstly Danish-born actor Mads Mikkelsen (King Arthur) has accepted the role of Le Chiffre, Bond's nemesis in the film and now the latest Bond Girl has also been cast. Eva Green has been cast to play the enticing Vesper Lynd. The beautiful star of 'The Dreamers' and 'Kingdom of Heaven' joins the long list of women who have shared the screen with the famous spy.
Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said, "We are thrilled that Eva and Mads have joined the cast of 'Casino Royale' completing a first rate international cast. They bring exceptional talent to the characters Ian Fleming described so vividly in his first James Bond novel. After an extensive search we have found the perfect actress. Eva is one of France's most accomplished young actresses, now receiving international acclaim. She brings to the complex role of Vesper an exciting combination of enigmatic and seductive beauty. Likewise Mads has such a compelling onscreen presence and his riveting performances in 'Open Hearts' and 'Adam's Apples' convinced both us and director Martin Campbell that he was ideal for the role of Le Chiffre." (Thanks to Coming Soon for the quote)
There is also a new Felix Leiter for 'Casino Royale' and he is going to be played by acclaimed character actor Jeffery Wright. The star of 'Broken Flowers', 'Ali', 'The Manchurian Candidate' and 'Syriana', is a welcome addition to the franchise.
Other 'Casino Royale' News...
After all the spectulation British actor Daniel Craig has been announced as the sixth person to play super secret agent, James Bond. The star of 'Layer Cake' and 'Enduring Love' recently, the acclaimed actor with bring his considerable talent to the world of gadgets, girls and guns.
“It hasn’t sunken in yet. It’s a responsibility, but it’s also a huge adventure so I want to get as much out of it as I can…It’s a huge challenge and life is about challenges. It’s one of the big ones as an actor. He’s an iconic figure in movie history and these things don’t come along very often” said the new Bond at his introductary press conference.
His first film will be 'Casino Royale', Bond's first adventure and the first novel that Ian Fleming wrote about his greatest creation. While this was made as a spoof in 1967, starring David Niven, Peter Sellers, Woody Allen and Orson Welles, this is based on the acclaimed novel and adapted by 'Million Dollar Baby' writer Paul Haggis, making it much closer to Fleming's original vision for the character.

The always excellent R2-Project has posted the first review of the Die Another Day DVD. The very positive review looks not only at the film itself put also at the extras and picture and sound quality. Here is a snippet...
Both discs are served by ice-blue animated menus that echo the themes of the movie perfectly, and are augmented by appropriate foley and music. MGM's UK branch has learned their lesson about menus after the clunky, poorly designed layout of the region 2 copy of The World Is Not Enough. Kudos to them. Die Another Day may not be the best Bond movie or even the pick of Brosnan's bunch, but this slick actioner opens in spectacular fashion, keep the momentum going, with enough gunplay, double-entendres and explosions to keep even casual viewers happy. You'll be very happy with it.

DISC TWO:
Halle Berry is to star in the first Bond spin-off project. Based on her Jinx character from Die Another Day, the yet un-titled movie has been given the go ahead by ION productions. According to ITV Teletext the project could be released in 2003 or early 2004 before the next Bond movie goes into production. Will we get Bond and Jinx movies alternately every year?
Also Dark Horizons has posted interviews with the latest Bond girls Halle Berry, who plays Jinx and Rosamund Pike, who plays Miranda Frost. LA correspondent Paul Fischer was the lucky man asking the questions. Here is a snippet...
“because this character was written the way she was, empowered, strong, this much fun and this sure of herself.” Berry says she was also attracted to this particular ‘Bond girl’ “because she was “sure of her sexuality and knew how to use it, almost as a weapon. She is also intelligent and almost Bond’s equal in a way and they had a great partnership, so I thought: What better kind of Bond woman to be than someone who literally teams up with Bond and become an asset to him.”

Yes, Bond is back for his 20th adventure. Pierce Brosnan returns as the world's greatest secret agent for what could be the last time. Speculation is rife as to who should take over the mantle of cinemas most famous spy. Front runners are Jeremy Northam (Enigma) and Clive Owen (Croupier), but Brosnan himself has not ruled out another movie, all depending on how he feels at the end of this one.
The casting has already started ready for the January 2002 start. As well as the return of Brosnan, Dame Judi Dench returns as 'M' and John Cleese as the now officially named 'R'.
Joining the returning cast members are...
Halle Berry (X-Men, Swordfish) playing CIA agent called Jinx.
Rick Yune (The Fast and the Furious) will play Zao, a North Korean General with a scared face (don't they always have scared faces) caused by face-altering device.
Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs) is to play a CIA agent called Falco.
Filming is due to take place in South Korea, Spain, Iceland and the UK over the next six months for a November 2002 release, going up against the other big hitters, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
