Bank robbers Emil (Roden) and Oleg arrive in the US after serving time in an Eastern European prision. Their accomplice escaped with all the money and the pair have come to collect their share, only to find out that he has spent it all. In a fit of rage, Emil kills him and his girl friend and then torches the entire building while Oleg videotapes the entire incident. Enter New York celebrity cop Eddie Flemming (De Niro) and Fire investigator Jody Warsaw (Burns), who come together to work on the crime.
This is a very run of the mill, overly violent, crime thriller and never really does anything more than keep your attention. De Niro's performance seems like he is on rails, never deviating and showing the talent we know he has and Burns really needs to go back to doing what he is really talented at, writing and directing. This is a shame as the concept, based around Andy Warhol's immortal saying that everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes; of the over sensationalisation of violence by the media to sell news is a poignant.
Two documentaries: 'The Tabloid Stars' and 'Does Crime Pay?', Deleted Scenes (With Commentary), Footage From An Actor's Perspective, Rehearsal Scenes, Trailer, Music Video, Interactive Menu & Scene Access
