When a congressman's daughter is kidnapped by her schoolteacher, Gary Sonji (Wincott), the kidnapper decides to make Detective Alex Cross (Freeman) his nemesis. Along with Special Agent Jezzie Flannigan (Potter) from the Secret Service, Cross is pulled into a situation of the spider and the fly, with Sonji pulling all the strings.
The prequel to 'Kiss the Girls' sees Morgan Freeman return as Detective Alex Cross, in what can only be called an average thriller. The main problem is the number of twists and turns in the last half hour will give you motion sickness. The movie drags you one way then another before only revealing the true complexity of the plot in the last ten minutes. Why is this a bad thing you may ask? It just over complicates the film and really smells of desperation to get the audiences attention. Morgan Freeman is his usual ever-watchable self and Monica Potter holds her own, but they are let down by a script that tries too hard and ends up missing more times than it hits.
